Portsmouth Harbour is one the worlds great Naval bases and steeped in Maritime History. HMS Warrior and also HMS victory are able to be seen and visited from here. It is also a major passenger terminal for the Isle of Wight and Europe.
The harbour entrance show the protection offered from the forts strategically built at the narrow Harbour entrance by the old Town and also with The mid-Victorian forts, Spitbank, Horse Sand and No Man's Land Forts just in sight to offer protection.
Portsmouth Gunwharf Quay is now a busy tourist and shopping centre offering many great locations for a drink or food on the water side. A trip up the Spinnaker Tower offers panoramic views for thirty miles on a good day along The Solent and around the harbour.
Opposite is Gosport with the marina offering an old Light ship as a restaurant with unrivalled views into the harbour. The sea port is a major harbour offering num
erous marinas to visit.
Portsmouth now is the home of Ben Ainslee Racing, our world Olympic champion with an aim to bring The Americas Cup back to Britain. 2015 will be a great year to see Sir Ben and his team on The Solent racing and training.
